Ideas for background - Editorial

I want to look at the inside of the human body but from a mechanical view. Below is a list of mechanical objects that could potentially represent a few organs/part of the body for my background. 

Cogs - the mind

Pipes - windpipes, heart, lungs etc

Wires - veins etc

Chains - intestines etc

Screws

Nails

Gauges

Nuts

Bolts

There are more objects that I could probably use for my background but these are all I can think of for the time being. I could use a board and lay all the objects down on and place them in shapes of human body organs and parts of place them less obviously and explain what they represent. I am going to collect mechanical items and place them to see what they look like as I don't think drawing this idea will help. I need to actually see how it would look in order for me to see if it will be successful.

I have also developed my makeup ideas further by actually sticking on clock cogs to the face as opposed to drawing them on. This will relate to the background and also show my theme of using them to represent the mind.
