Hair: Natural Beach Waves

Equipment:
  • Mousse
  • Salt spray
  • Hairdryer
  • Diffuser
  • Curling tongs
  • Straighteners
  • Sectioning clips
Steps - Diffuser:
  1. Wash hair and blast with the hairdryer so hair isn't dripping wet but is still damp.
  2. Apply a good amount of mousse and sea salt spray and comb through to evenly spread.
  3. Take hairdryer with diffuser on full heat (medium is damaged) and scrunch the hair with the diffuser, gently tilting the clients head back and forth. Keep checking that the model is ok.

Steps - Curling Tongs:
  1. Section the hair into pieces to curl.
  2. Use the large tongs to create a wave, not a curl. Leave the bottom section out so it doesn't become too curly.

Steps - Twist and Straighteners:
  1. Take a strand of hair and create a twist, take another piece of hair next to it and twist the two together. Twist all the way to the bottom.
  2. Take straighteners and press down onto the hair.
  3. For bigger waves, take larger sections or they will become too curly.

CHIGNON

Overall, I enjoyed this lesson as it was good to try out all three techniques for the beach waves. It was good to put all of these to practice and to create a chignon at the end.
