Reshooting my Advertising - Evening Look
For this look, I was really stuck on whether to make both advertising images about Creamy Eyes or to advertise something different. So I came up with a plan to do both, this time focusing on a Lip Product. Below, I found a recent image that Ellis Faas had created and it inspired me to create a new look for Creamy Eyes.

I wanted to create a similar effect to the one above with the dark background and circles. They need a lot of photoshop as I want to make it appear darker. However, I don't think I really like how they have turned out. Which makes me relieved that I created a lip look!

Making my Mechanical Background
Inspiration for my mechanical background
Luckily I have dad who's an electrician and a boyfriend who works with bikes so getting mechanical stuff was easy. Below is a collection of items I have gathered and placed randomly to get the idea of how I want to lay it out.
I wanted to hold the board up and have my model stand in front of it. However, due to the items being so heavy, I will have to get my model to lay on the floor on top of the board to create the effect. I am going to see what Kat recommends as I don't know whether to leave them the colours they are or to spray them all the same red.

Feedback from Kat
After going to see Kat quite negative about my work and ideas, I came out feeling better from the feedback and direction I received. It was agreed that I wasn't fully showing the brand in the creative way I should be. Below is the feedback I received and I have brainstormed a few ideas that could potentially work as a shoot.
Advertising: Colour
For my first look, I received quite positive feedback, the composition could work if cropped and photoshopped. The glossy eyes and lips gave an element of Ellis Faas's organic feel and could work well to advertise Creamy Eyes. Could also work well for my day look as it is kept clean and natural.
For my second look, I was going to advertise the same product but wasn't sure how to create a look that really represents Ellis Faas. I have a good model and need to use her full potential to show off her profile. After talking to Kat, I have decided to play around with colour in this shoot rather than doing a typical evening smokey eye look. She also thought the photos were too graphic and harsh with the clean cut lines. When looking at the photo, you don't get the feeling that it is inspired by Ellis Faas. I am going to re do this shoot with a more organic feel and experiment with red and another feature to advertise rather than both being focused on eyes.
Catwalk: Variety of SS16 Trends
I created my timed assessment look for my catwalk. I used two models to get the posed together and did a variety of shoots, individually and posed with things going on in the background. The images I showed Kat received quite positive feedback, however she preferred the individual ones. I will use this for my catwalk image, and will potentially try to create a collage.
Editorial: Texture
For my editorial I originally came up with the idea of recreating Ellis' March visual with the textured background. I wanted to include parts of the human body as opposed to human colours but wih a mechanical twist. After speaking to Kat, I have definitely decided to do this and she thinks it could work and to would contrast her organic style of makeup.
Ideas: Editorial
Using Ellis' recent visual for March, I am going to create the idea of using mechanical objects to represent a mechanical version of our bodies and to contrast the organic side of the makeup. I think this could be a complete new direction for Ellis Faas as a brand. Incorporating mechanical objects and even things such as technology can be a new way to the future. The purity and organic feel of the brand will remain but elements of man-made subjects could perhaps be an interesting idea.
I will create my mechanical background using objects such as bike chains, pipes, refrigeration gauges, various fixings, nuts, bolts, volt meters, chains, cassettes, electrical cables. Once in position, I will then see if they could work being sprayed red for Ellis Red.

LOOK 1
Here I have created another look for creamy eyes which would be my evening look. I got inspiration from one of Ellis' pictures where she focuses on a circles. I have noticed how a majority of her work include circles. I quite like this image but I'm not too sure how it will photograph. I will do it on the day of the shoot and see how it turns out.
LOOK 2
I have created an advert for Ellis' lip products. I've kept the theme of circles as some of Ellis' work includes them. I really like this image as it resembles Ellis Red and I think when you look at it, you can tell it is in the style of her work. Bringing the hair over across the eyes adds to this feel as well. I am really happy with this idea and will photograph both to see which turns out better as I can't decide!

Below are my favourite, unedited photographs from my catwalk shoot. I used two models with the same look but slightly different eyelashes and lip colours. The look I created was from my timed assessment look. I wanted them posed individually and together with a sense of behind the scenes going on. This isn't my favourite shoot as I found it very difficult to shoot what I wanted because I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted. I will see what Kat thinks about my work and decide where I go with it from there.
Shooting with two models proved quite difficult as one would always have a slightly better angle or pose than the other, or one wouldn't be looking etc. I am hoping that photoshop can help this shoot look a little better. And I hope my other catwalk shoot will turn out better too!

LOOK ONE
I really like the position of the model, and the way she is looking down. When editing, I will crop the t-shirt out and top of her head and make the background full of her hair.
I also like this image, however because she is looking up it makes it harder to see what I am advertising as you cannot see the colour of the eyes as clearly.
Overall, I'm happy with how this shoot has turned out. They will need a lot of photoshopping but I love how simple and natural the makeup looks as it contrast against my other ideas of Ellis Faas. I can't wait to see what these images will look like when photoshopped and advertising my chosen product. Here is a quick photoshop edit I have done to see the kind of idea I am going with it.

LOOK TWO
Although this image would need a lot of photoshopping, I really like how powerful she looks.
My model has a lovely neck and her profile photographs really well which is why I love this image. Again, it needs a lot of photoshop but it could work really well for something.
Whilst I like the design and these images, I don't like them for this brief. They aren't Ellis Faas inspired at all and very different to something she would produce. I am going to reshoot this and maybe advertise a lip product as I want to stay away from the typical smokey eye look. However, these images may be useful for something else and I will definitely put these in my portfolio.
